We have two big product updates to announce that give you as the researcher complete control of the creative process of using AI in Notably.

First, you can now create a custom AI template to ask anything about your research. Create a template inspired by your company's values or personas, your favorite research framework, a fun workshop activity– anything you can imagine.

Secondly, we’ve released the entire library of prompts that power Notably's AI templates for Enterprise customers to view, copy, or use as a starting point for a custom template.

Both of these updates introduce prompting to the experience in Notably. Prompts are like the source code between the templates and AI that tell it what to do. They contain a set of specific questions and instructions to ask of the data, and writing them is both a technical and creative skill.

Writing a prompt for your custom AI template will be how you tell Notably what you want it to look for in your research and how you want the output (either a summary or insight) to be formatted.

Once you get comfortable with writing AI prompts, you can create anything you can imagine. To showcase what’s possible and to help you get started with prompting, here are 10 ideas and boilerplate prompts to use in Notably on your research today.

This approach not only saves time but also ensures that the proven methodologies of design thinking are consistently applied across all research projects.

You’re a design researcher with the goal to analyze the conversation for positive and negative feedback, and turn them into new opportunities phrased as “How might we” statements.

The task is to generate 6-8 “How might we” that are open-ended enough to create many possibilities, but narrow enough to be practical for brainstorming new design solutions. Avoid obvious or surface level ideas, instead dig deep into the underlying human need and problem and . Be concise and direct and avoid adverbs.

Identify how the product or solution discussed created unexpected and positive surprises or exceeded expectations. Turn them into a bulleted list of 3-4 “How might we” statements focused on elevating those positive moments and creating more of them.

Then identify areas of friction or dissatisfaction. Turn challenges and moments of confusion into a bulleted list of 3-4 “How might we” statements that propose opportunities to solve issues, and eliminate pain points completely.

6. Align Insights with Your Company's Brand Values and Vision

Crafting a template around your company’s brand values and vision ensures that all research insights are communicated in a way that resonates with the broader organization. This alignment guarantees that the findings are not only relevant but also support the company’s overarching goals and messaging, fostering a stronger connection between research outcomes and business strategy.

You’re a market researcher with the goal to identify opportunities for new solutions from the provided dataset. Use the following personas as constraints to come up with new ideas:

[persona 1, persona 2, persona 3]

Create a section for each persona. In each section, channel the viewpoint of the title persona, e.g. “[Persona 1]”. Address only their specific needs, desires, and pain points identified in the provided dataset. Generate 5 inventive ideas in each section for potential products, services, or tools. Start these with “What if.”

  • First, come up with an idea driven by deep emotional insight and gut instinct from the data.
  • Second, propose an idea scrutinizing the data’s potential pitfalls, acting as a devil's advocate.
  • Third, envision a positive, ideal-scenario idea, radiating optimism.
